Our dearly beloved Gran passed away this year suddenly on February 10th. Although it was unexpected she had been suffering for the last few years with an incurable lung condition called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis IPF.
What is IPF?
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF) scars your lungs and so reduces the efficiency of your breathing. The build-up of scar tissue is called fibrosis. Fibrosis causes the lungs to become stiffer and lose their elasticity so they’re less able to inflate and take oxygen from the air you breathe. The scar tissue cannot currently be changed back to healthy tissue, so there is no cure yet for IPF. Current treatments aim to slow the rate of scarring, but they do not stop it.
Not a single day goes by that we don’t miss such a warm, loving, funny, special lady. She has left an unimaginable void in our family that cannot be filled.
We have decided to try and raise some money in her memory that will aid in the research for this indiscriminate disease. We have taken up training for the Great North Swim at Windermere. It is a two mile open water swim, in a beautiful part of the country. Since our Gran was born in the Lake District we thought it was most appropriate to her memory.
Please donate whatever you can in her memory.
Thank you
Harry and Beth Richardson
